THE SEEKER

This pen and ink sketch was of someone I deeply love and admire. We had a chance to digitally exchange some deep thoughts lately, and those conversations stirred me. Many people call themselves seekers as a cowardly way to avoid closing their open mind on truth. But, sincere seekers have a fire in their belly and brave the cold in pursuit of truth.

She is intelligent, creative, funny, discerning, and oozes “older sister.” My prayer for her during this season of her life is that she develop the confidence that comes from above, and the ability to grow through self-examination versus using entertainment to escape those nagging internal questions. I’m preparing for a 2012 goal: Make a piece of art each day, a drawing, sculpture, collage, whatever. Keep it loose, don’t take myself too seriously, but show some grit. I’ve had this iGoogle post-it widget full of ideas for at least a few years, so this wouldn’t be a bad place to start, I suppose.
