This was sketched in person while my wife was feeding my newborn daughter. I love that my wife is so experienced and confident in her nurturing nature, and maintains that tenderness that only a mother can provide. I so appreciate getting to be a part of this family and experience moments like this.
In this drawing, I enjoy the charged space of the couch and the way it seems to be emanating from the figure. I also appreciate how very quickly you can describe a volume by using the line to form the contours of the form, notably around the leg and alongside the right side of the couch arm.
This pen and ink sketch was of someone I deeply love and admire. We had a chance to digitally exchange some deep thoughts lately, and those conversations stirred me. Many people call themselves seekers as a cowardly way to avoid closing their open mind on truth. But, sincere seekers have a fire in their belly and brave the cold in pursuit of truth.

Addie is amazing. She is intelligent, creative, funny, discerning, and oozes “older sister.” My prayer for her during this season of her life is that she develop the confidence that comes from above, and the ability to grow through self-examination versus using entertainment to escape those nagging internal questions.
